Referring people to a counseling center frequently presents one of two problems for church leaders. In many cases well-meaning Christian counselors often have little in the way of theological training. This lack of training can create friction for the client, as well as for the church, around issues ranging from standards for divorce to depression. Additionally, the well-meaning Christian counselor often undervalues the role of the church, or does not see the powerful healing benefit of the church community, and as a result can subtly undermine the authority of a church’s leadership. On the other end of the continuum is the Christian counselor who has been trained with “biblical” counseling models but is poorly equipped to manage very real psychological problems.
At HopeWell we address the Church’s needs by employing counselors who are both theologically and clinically equipped. The blending of these skills enables HopeWell to help struggling people and equip church leaders in a manner that enhances the power and practice of the gospel in the local church.

At HopeWell, people under our care are encouraged to understand the role of the church in their growth and healing. We also aim to produce, as a natural outcome of therapy, men and woman who are able to address others with the comfort of Jesus in deeper ways.
